A Message from Ms. Schreider and Ms. Petinarelis
We had a great turn out at our Family Wellness night. We hope you enjoyed learning about ways to stay connected as a family while focusing on wellness. Thank you for joining us!
At this time of year, schools across YRDSB are asked to keep students off the grass fields. Your child may have mentioned that we are having “tarmac-only recess.” This means students are staying on the pavement so the grass can grow back strong and healthy for the spring and summer months. Using the field too early can cause damage that takes time to repair. With many students sharing the pavement space, equipment and balls are not permitted during recess at this time, as they can create safety concerns. We kindly ask families not to send balls to school for the next few weeks. We hope to have access to the field and full use of outdoor equipment very soon!
We recently held our first spring fire drill. Students were prepared in advance and reviewed how to exit and re-enter the building safely. The students did a great job! We will have two more drills this spring.
And most importantly, we are proud to support Autism Acceptance with our fundraiser for Autism Ontario. Our next day of sales for tote ($15) and raffle tickets($5) is Friday, April 24 - CASH ONLY. Raffle prizes include playscape for the day with your class, movie with your class, front row seats to the Little Mermaid Rehearsal, PJ day with your class, "pieing" a teacher and the grand prize...crowning Ms. Petinarelis and Ms. Schreider with a cream sundae!
We thank you for your continued support and wish you a wonderful weekend!

We Need Your Help! Safe Active Travel
YRDSB continues to encourage families to use safe transportation to and from school. We encourage students to use active school travel whenever possible. Active travel refers to any form of human-powered transportation, including walking, cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, and scootering.
School Property
Students using any transportation device, whether electronic or not-electronic, must dismount before arriving on school property. This includes all sidewalks, pathways, and walkways on school grounds. Please note that the school is not responsible for lost or damaged equipment.
Provincial Regulations
These modes of travel offer many physical, mental, and community benefits. Please visit the Ontario website for a full list of regulations. Every cyclist under 18 must wear a properly fitting bike helmet. Some students may also choose to use electronically assisted devices, such as e‑scooters or e‑bikes. In Ontario, you must be 16 or older to ride an e-scooter or e-bike. When riding e‑scooters or e‑bikes, it is important that students follow all applicable municipal regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
Municipal Regulations
Before riding any device, it is important for students and families to be aware of the regulations set by their local municipality. These may include minimum age requirements for operating electric devices, helmet laws, and other safety guidelines.
Respectful Riding
Pedestrians always have the right of way. Students are expected to ride with caution by slowing down, using a bell when approaching others, and passing on the left. Wearing reflective clothing is encouraged to increase visibility and promote safer travel.
