A Message from Mr. Trute and Ms. Petinarelis

Dear Families,

Dear Families,

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for the incredibly warm welcome I have received since joining this wonderful school community. Over the past few weeks, I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting many of you and your wonderful children. Your kindness, smiles, and supportive words have made me feel right at home, and I am so proud to be partnering with you in your child’s education.

As we head into the warmer June months, the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority. With the temperatures rising, I want to share some important hot weather reminders and outline our school’s action plan to keep everyone safe, cool, and comfortable.

Hydration is Key: Please send your child to school with a refillable water bottle daily. We encourage frequent water breaks throughout the day.

Dress Appropriately for the Weather: Lightweight, light-colored, and breathable clothing is best.

Sun Protection: Please apply sunscreen before school and consider sending your child with a hat and sunglasses for outdoor recess.

We also have a school Hot weather Plan which includes limited time outside under hot temperatures as well as cooling strategies and locations in the school.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

Regards,

Mr. Trute, Principal, (Retired on Contract) and Ms. Petinarelis, Vice Principal

New Online Hub Supports Students’ Transitions

Students experience transitions throughout their school day and their school years. Supporting these transitions is a shared effort. YRDSB has launched a new Transition Hub with resources to support all students and their families during times of change. It includes tips for all families with specific information and strategies to support students with special education needs.

You will find helpful information, clear steps and strategies to support transitions. You can explore tips and resources by grade level or by different categories such as advocacy, daily transitions and transitioning to a new school. The content can also be translated using the built-in web translation tool. We invite you to explore the new Transitions Hub for tips to support your child.
