A Message from Mrs. Schreider and Ms. Petinarelis
It is hard to believe it is already the middle of October! Students have been settling in well and did a great job during our recent safety drills.
We wanted to remind all families that it is an expectation that students attending our school live in our area. We are also aware that some have moved and no longer live in our catchment area. Please ensure that your contact information is up to date and if you have moved, please let us know.
As well, we remind all families to have the following items available should we reach out to you to provide current proof of residency:
Proof of Residency: student living with the parent(s)/guardians(s)/ Education Designate requires the provision to the Board of three documents:
One (1) from Category A; and
Two (2) from Category B;
- all documents must show home address for student living with the parent(s)/guardian(s);
- all documents must contain at least one parent or guardian’s name;
- all Category A documents must be original. Copies will not be accepted

Picking Up Your Children
This is just a reminder that students are not dismissed after 3:00 pm. If possible, please avoid picking up your children during recess times, 10:40 to 11:10 am and 1:10 to 1:50 pm as students are outside and it is often difficult for them to hear pages.
Picture Day - This Wednesday, October 21, 2026
Bring on your best smile BHES! Picture Day will be on Wednesday, October 21. Please see photo day tips.
Halloween - Reminders
We look forward to celebrating Halloween with our students this year. Please remember the following:
- Costumes should be respectful of others. Symbols or objects representative of a person’s race, culture, ethnicity, or religious beliefs should not be worn as another person’s costume, nor should costumes that caricature social identities through stereotyping. Please be sensitive to images and media use.
- In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, please ensure costumes do not trivialize and devalue the lives of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
- Students do not need to dress up. If they would like to do so, they may wear orange and black or autumn colours.
- No Halloween masks are to be worn.
- No replica weapons of any kind are allowed.
- Students should only use single-use make-up (sharing of make-up is not recommended)
Specific information will be sent home by your child’s teachers.

Student Mental Health and Addictions Newsletter - Fall 2026
You may help your child(ren) settle back into their routine or create a new one based on the needs of your child(ren) and family. For example, it may be helpful to engage your child(ren) in a discussion about their experience(s) as they start a new school year. Students thrive when schedules and routines are consistent and predictable whenever and wherever time and space allows.
