A Message from Ms. Schreider and Ms. Petinarelis
As part of our School Improvement Plan (SIP), we have been focussing on student health and wellness with an emphasis on promoting positive behaviour, building healthy relationships and affirming student identities. This year, we are implementing a variety of strategies including the use of community circles to help our students feel more regulated (less stressed) and feel a greater sense of belonging.
Our hope is that our students will experience the following outcomes:
1. Belonging and Relationships
- demonstrate respect and kindness toward peers.
- feel included and connected to their classroom community.
- listen respectfully to others’ perspectives.
2. Student Voice and Agency
- experience a range of opportunities to share their ideas.
- demonstrate that their voices and perspectives are valued.
- contribute to building a positive classroom community.
3. Well-Being and Conflict Resolution
- communicate their feelings and needs respectfully.
- demonstrate empathy and understanding of others.
- use strategies to solve problems and/or repair relationships.
4. Equity and Inclusion
- feel their identities, cultures and experiences are respected.
- demonstrate acceptance of differences.
We encourage you to ask your children about their experiences at school. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Heather Schreider Georgia Petinarelis

Halloween Reminders
We look forward to celebrating Halloween with our students on Friday, October 30.
Please remember the following:
- Costumes should be respectful of others. Symbols or objects representative of a person’s race, culture, ethnicity, or religious beliefs should not be worn as another person’s costume, nor should costumes that caricature social identities through stereotyping. Please be sensitive to images and media use.
- In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, please ensure costumes do not trivialize and devalue the lives of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
- Students do not need to dress up. If they would like to do so, they may wear orange and black or autumn colours.
- No Halloween masks are to be worn.
- No replica weapons of any kind are allowed.
- Students should only use single-use make-up (sharing of make-up is not recommended)
Specific information will be sent home by your child’s teachers.
